Pricing Analyst


We are looking for an enthusiastic and analytical problem-solver to join the Pricing Team in the Health division. The Pricing Team is part of the Strategy Function and is crucial in ensuring the long-term success of our products.

As a critical team member, the Analyst will support key projects and help us base commercial decisions on sound analysis and insights.

Healthcare is going through rapid changes across the world and companies lead these changes. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional looking for a role where they can make a tangible impact.

The Analyst will report to Head of Pricing and be based in our London office.

Main Responsibilities

The Analyst will:

  • Support long-term strategic pricing projects, including:

  • Working with senior team members to plan new product launches in all countries

  • Drawing insights from analysing different sources e.g. sales, usage & interview data

  • Managing work independently and supporting delivery of a variety of initiatives

  • Perform analysis to inform shorter term business decisions. Example questions include:

  • Optimising promotions e.g. What time of year should Elsevier offer promotions for books?

  • Response to policy e.g. How should Elsevier respond to healthcare funding changes?

  • Conduct research on the market & competitors. For example:

  • Conducting web-based research on policy changes that our solutions could support

  • Reviewing annual reports to understand innovations in the market

  • Analysing customer research to inform future product development

    Key Skills / Competencies

  • Commercial knowledge

  • Can quickly understand a business, its key drivers and commercial risks / challenges

  • Able to think tactically and connect strategy to operations

  • Analytical skills

  • Has excellent attention to detail & analytical skills that they can apply to all types of data

  • Is an advanced Excel user; knowledge of Access, SQL or predictive analytics tools a plus

  • Communication skills

  • Can deliver high quality reports in multiple formats, that convey key messages

  • Is a competent MS PowerPoint user

  • Leadership

  • Able to work independently and collaborate across the team as needed

  • Enjoys continuous learning and likes to learn new skills and take on new challenges

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree any subject with a numerical or statistical component

  • At least 1 years' experience in an analytical position in any industry or consulting

  • Familiarity with the healthcare industry, B2B publishing or information a plus
